PPE Care Packages Available to Small Businesses
City Leaders Join with Hispano Chamber to provide COVID 19 care packages to Small Businesses.
Albuquerque, NM - City Councilors Klarissa Peña, Don Harris, Cynthia Borrego, and Brook Bassan with Mayor Tim Keller are partnering with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce to provide small businesses care packages with Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) and other items they may need to meet state requirements for the opening of their business.
“The One Albuquerque spirit is strong as our community adapts during this public health crisis. We’re pleased to work with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce and Councilor Klarissa Peña to provide supplies to small businesses that are critical to re-opening and keep Burqueños safe,” said Mayor Tim Keller.
Councilor Peña said, “I am grateful for the public/private partnership that pulled together to provide these care packages. We recognize how difficult it may be for these small businesses to access the PPE required to open up safely and protect their employees as well as their customers. We’re hoping these small care packages can help them until such time they are able to acquire the necessary supplies.”
“We are excited to partner with Sombra, USA, Councilor Peña and many businesses that have contributed to the care packages to help one-thousand small businesses that may not have the ability to purchase these products during this difficult time” said Ernie C’deBaca, President & CEO of the Hispano Chamber. The Hispano Chamber is contributing 5,000 masks toward this effort.
We have received donations from a variety of companies including our initiative Sponsor Sombra USA whom will include hand sanitizer and their Sore No More analgesic products.
We are asking large businesses who may have an excess of gloves, hand sanitizers and other PPE to help with this endeavor to donate what they can. They can drop off donations at the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber offices at 1309 4th St SW until Monday, June 1st at 4pm.
On Tuesday June 2nd, we will begin assembling the care packages with the assistance of volunteers including the Duke City Gladiators and The New Mexico Runners. Distribution to small businesses will begin on Thursday, June 4th from 9am – 1pm at the Hispano Chamber Campus, 1309 4th St SW here in Albuquerque. For more information Call John Lewis 505-514-8327 or email at John@AHCNM.org.
The small business care packages will be limited to businesses with 5 or less employees who may not have the adequate resources to procure any needed supplies to implement the guidelines to safely open up their business.
