2022 Hispano Chamber Scholarships

The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce is providing 3 types of scholarships for the 2022 Education Excellence Celebration. The Scholarships are designed to provide recognition for educational achievement and award leadership qualities to graduating Hispanic high school seniors that will be attending an institution of higher learning or trade school; and students currently enrolled in an institution of higher education (undergraduate or graduate) or non-traditional adults looking to obtain a degree or certificate. The Scholarship committee will consider the educational achievements, leadership qualities, letters of recommendation, written essays and strong financial need.

2022 AHCC Scholarship - $1,000 award
Scholarship Objective: to provide recognition for educational achievement and leadership qualities to graduating New Mexico high school seniors that will be attending an institution of higher learning or trade school. Eligibility: High School Seniors graduating in the current school year and planning to enroll in an institution of higher learning or trade school in the 2022-23 academic year. NM residents with a 2.5 GPA or higher; all students regardless of documentation status are eligible. Complete Application includes:

2022 Opportunity Scholarship - $1,000 award
Scholarship Objective: for individuals who earned their high school diploma, GED or high school equivalency at least one year ago and desire for post-secondary education in pursuit of career goals. Eligibility: Individuals 19 or older in NM who earned a high school diploma, GED or high school equivalency on or before September 2021. Be enrolled or planning to enroll in an institution of higher education for academic year 2022-23; all students regardless of documentation status are eligible. Complete Application includes:

2022 THRIVE Multi-year Scholarship Initiative - $5,500 award
(total amount over a period of up to 4 years)
Scholarship Objective: to provide Multi-year scholarships annually to see students through graduation beginning Fall 2022. Provide mentoring through either CNM or UNM and connect students to the business community through the Hispano Chamber membership for real world experience and opportunities.
Eligibility: This scholarship is specifically for individuals for whom Fall 2022 will be their first semester ever to enroll in a 2-year, 4-year, or CTE program. Additional eligibility:

Eligibility: This scholarship is specifically for individuals for whom Fall 2022 will be their first semester ever to enroll in a 2-year, 4-year, or CTE program. Additional eligibility:
- Completed high school diploma/equivalency OR currently a high school senior
- Must enroll at UNM OR CNM
- At UNM must enroll for a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester.
- At CNM for 12 credit hours for degree or certificate program for length of certificate or degree program (typically not longer than 2 years).

- Unofficial transcript
- 2-3 minute video explaining your education goals, career objective and plans for giving back to New Mexico. Creativity is encouraged but you must appear in the video and talk for at least half of the video. You must upload your video and keep to the time limit requirement of no more than 2-3 minutes.
Scholarship continuation considerations: In order to maintain the Thrive Scholarship you must provide every year an unofficial transcript with proof of enrollment, maintain a minimum 2.27 GPA, a thank you letter outlining accomplishments and goals to share with donor, and attendance and participation in the annual AHCC-sponsored coaching/networking event for program participants.

- Name of person(s) to serve as your recommender.
- Email of recommender(s).
- Things to consider when choosing recommender(s):
- Please give the person(s) plenty of time to complete the recommendation letter.
- Make sure you ask the person(s) first if they will serve as a recommender.
- The person(s) giving you a letter of recommendation should be a teacher, school counselor, school official or community member who is not related to you.
- The person(s) giving you a letter should be able to talk about your academic accomplishments, your potential in completing a degree or certificate program, your passion for education beyond high school and your overall character.
