Indigenous Montessori Institute - Native Language Symposium

Language is more than words; it is a connection to culture, identity, and generations of ancestral knowledge. The 10th Annual Native Language Symposium, Breath of the Ancestors: Reclaiming Our First Words, is a two-day gathering dedicated to preserving, revitalizing, and celebrating Indigenous languages through early childhood education. This year's theme emphasizes the importance of passing down ancestral languages to younger generations, ensuring that the traditions, stories, and cultural identities they carry continue to thrive.

Bringing together early childhood educators, families, Indigenous language keepers, community leaders, artists, researchers, and advocates from across Turtle Island, the symposium creates a space for meaningful collaboration, cultural exchange, and shared learning. The Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce's Convention & Tourism team is proud to support this important gathering, welcoming participants to Albuquerque as they work together to strengthen Indigenous language preservation and inspire future generations.
